Production methods of FRP, wet contact and dry compression molding

The production methods of FRP are basically divided into two major categories, namely, wet contact and dry compression molding. According to the technical characteristics, there are hand paste forming, laminating, RTM, extrusion, molding, winding and so on. Hand paste forming also includes hand paste, bag pressure, spray, wet paste low pressure and non mode hand paste.

At present, there are four kinds of molding methods used most in the world.

More than 90% of the FRP products in our country are produced by hand paste method, and the others are molding method, winding method, laminating method, etc. Japanese hand paste still accounts for 50%. From all over the world, hand paste still accounts for a considerable proportion, indicating that it is still alive. Hand paste is characterized by the use of wet resin molding, simple equipment, less cost, one can paste more than 10m of the whole product. The disadvantages are low mechanization, long production cycle and unstable quality. In China, the technology and equipment of extrusion, spraying and winding are introduced from abroad. With the development of FRP industry, the new technology will appear continuously.

FRP name glass fiber reinforced plastic. It is a composite material with glass fiber and its products (glass cloth, tapes, felt, yarn, etc.) as reinforced material and synthetic resin as a matrix material. The concept of composite material is a material that can't meet the requirement of use. It needs to be combined by two or more than two kinds of materials to form another material that can meet people's requirements, that is composite material. For example, a single type of glass fiber, though high in intensity, is loose in fiber.
